how in the world do I get there?

To get to LaVentana you can fly into either LaPaz airport with direct flights to LA via, Alaska Airlines ,.  Or you can fly into Cabo (san jose del cabo), many major airlines fly into Cabo.  From Cabo rent a car or take a bus to LaPaz, we can pick you up in san antonio too.         directions below and suggestions.

here are the directions from Cabo and Lapaz

click for general area maps

When you leave the airport head to LaPaz,(do not take toll road way) exit taking a right then take a left on highway 1 opposite way of Cabo signs. This is a bit tricky…    LaPaz is about 90 miles, or take the shortcut listed next, you would have turned off half way.

SHORTCUT… this is now finished and a great road.

If taking the fast way, when you hit a town about half way between airport and LaPaz named San Antonio.  As you enter this small town there will be a small gas station on the left, go another quarter mile to take the first right turn on a paved road. (there will be a very small green sign that says LaVentana turn right there, it is really the only right turn).      As you turn onto this paved road follow the paved road do not go onto the unpaved road…. The paved road will veer left and then right just stay on the paved road…       Take that road 15 miles till it ends and take a left when it ends.

Once you hit the end and take a left you will pass a gas station and about 1-2 miles past the gas station take a right and follow the directions into LaVentana…

If you drive to LaPaz skip the shortcut above:

When you get in LaPaz(big town), at the intersection just past the office depot (you can not miss office depot, this is a huge intersection a store/mall on the left with the large grocery store Sorianas)) take a right (on 286 there are no street sign names) towards El Sergento/Los Planes.  Or if you are at the sorrianas at the other side of the road there is a subway sandwich you want to go on that road and go through the intersection where the gas station is on your left across the lanes and keep going forward.

You will go through a minor traffic light in a quarter mile, then past the coke factory and bimbo bread on the left in about 300 yards, then half mile a large stop sign go forward, a bunch of junk yards (yonkes) just keep going up the mountain,

you will go over the mountain and 20 miles or so later the first left at a T intersection (it is paved), there will be a little store 300 yards before on the right and you will be at the bottom of the mountain.   Here will be some signs at the T for LaVentana-ElSergento some of the signs are for local resorts on the left , turn left there.  (If you go to far and miss this turn you will see a gas station on the left.  Then you will hit the little village of LosPlanes)   just again turn left there at the T and in 7 miles you will be at my place.

As you drive into town LaVentana you will hit a first speed bump (tope),   the second speed bump another 100 feet, half mile further then you will see a restaurant on the left viento del norte (another speed bump, about the 5th) with a mini supper(small grocery store) next door, there is a big campground across the street to the beach side on the right, keep going about a quarter mile.

I am past the big campground on the right, you will see a small restaurant/bar Ventanas del Sol Sport Bar & Restaurant  it is a white sign on the right, with a sign out front by the road it is on the beach side just past the campground on the right.

After the SOL restaurant/bar on the right there is a big stone house on the hill as you are going up a hill, keep going up the hill 100 feet past this house and you will see on the right a jetski on a pole at the top of the hill, it says CRAZY CHELAS on the jet ski and on their yellow painted wall.  Turn right AT the jetski,

They have a fancy big entrance and yellow wall...  take a hard right at the jetski pole and backtrack like a right hand u-turn 50 feet for my cyclone fence gate,

If during the day or evening press the doorbell on the walk-in gate.  If late night use the drive in gate it is also unlocked.

To repeat…  I am between the big Mexican rustic looking stone house and crazy chelas as you hit the top of the hill, you cannot miss the jetski on the pole on the right.  Turn right at the jetski!!!! Ten feet and backtrack to the south 50 feet.   My place is mainly white Mediterranean looking.   Also at night you will see Christmas lights on the southern wall.   Drive past the first driveway 100 feet and do the right hand u-turn.   Ring the bell as long as not late night.   Enter at the walk-in gate that has white concrete around a green cyclone door.  Or the drive in gate is not locked.

If you see a gas station on the left you went too far by a quarter mile.

nearby stores and restaurants

a mini super is about 10 minute walk.   Rafa's, a place to sit and eat is 200 yards out the gate, 2 minute walk.

At Rafas you can get tacos  (shrimp, fish, beef, chicken) for a little more than a buck.    They have a full menu to boot.   Then another 100 yards is another new restaurant serving Mexican food.    Then another 200 yards is another one that serves  american food.    All are open for breakfast lunch and dinner.    walk the other way and in 5 minutes you have the bar with pool table and food called the "sol".   Walk another 5 minutes and you have Pablos and another 5 minutes you have Waukens...

also for fresh fruits and vegetables on Mondays and Fridays a truck is down at the campground.   that is a 5 minute walk.
