Directions from TJ to Ensenada

directions from TJ border to ensenda for intellegent people... not for dummies.

Here is the general map of TJ crossing at 5.       A general rule I have read is first only cross during
daylight.   and second do not stop after you have exited the customs area for anything.       I have read
this:  (so it is your choice to decide what you would do, but I will tell you this is what I would do)  If a police
car or police lights are pulling you over in this section, for your safety you do not stop till you are at the
first toll booth.

there are three turns you must make (noted with the red curved arrows)and they are easy if you have this
information

Here is the Mexico customs stop/check pointPost

as you enter mexico you see this the customs area below.    if you have items to declare be in the far right area, it is farther to the right, hug the right shoulder, the buses go into this automatic gated area also.      Once you get a green light go forward about half a mile and you will be taking a right.  So move to the right lanes right away (but initially not the farthest on the right).  Be in the lane with the arrow "ensenada senic rd",  but do not exit at the first exit in 200 yards, you will go under this bridge then pass over the flood viaduct.    It is easier to move to the right out of the gates than once everyone is moving 50mph.

So move to the right lanes right away ( not the farthest on the right).   do not exit at the first right exit in 200 yards, as shown below.  you will go under the below roads with a sign with an arrow pointing to the correct lane "ensenada senic road" then pass over the flood viaduct.    It is easier to move to the right out of the gates than once everyone is moving 50 mph.

first turn

Below is the right turn you need to take, again about half a mile
past the customs area.  right after crossing the dry water viaduct.
one foot after basically.

As just noted it is the second right from the border check point.
The issue here is the sign you see below is just past the turn, so
do not let that issue throw you off.     After you get on the exit here,
as you go you will be merging with left then another merge of fast
moving traffic on your right as you enter from the left, so hit the
gas before you merge with them.    Once you merge you will go
along the US border for a couple miles.

second turn

Post

Below, after a few miles along the US border it will move away from the border and you will be
heading downhill, you will need to be in the right lane. You can see two different direction signs
that are not the same to add a bit of confusion. Just be in the right lane and take that right while
going down the hill as shown with the arrow.

below is a close-up of the second sign, so again be in the right lane while going down the
hill and take this right.

third and final turn to the left

below you will see this sign in the distance, because this is up a steep hill
be in the left lane by the time you get to this sign. It can be very difficult
to get to the left lane after this. Specially with a rv or large trailer. I
know, ended up forced to the right one time and very difficult to get back
on the correct road after this.

Below is 100 yards or so from the above sign... again you wanted to be in the
left lane by the time you hit the sign.... veer to the left here or you end up on
the beach this is a couple hundred yards from above sign. You are now on
the toll road.

Re: going south to ensenada from TJ crossing

you will hit a toll booth in a few miles, just continue on to Ensenada there will be 3 tolls. remember to save your toll receipts as when you pay it includes insurances, what i have heard is towing and accident. so save that receipt...

and lastly disclosure, I do not warrant these are perfect, just pretty good...

and remember almost all mcDonalds have free internet on the road as well as starbucks in the USA.
